Administrative history

Research Centre for Management of Advanced Technology/Operations (REMAT) was established in 1985 to conduct research on the development of new technology in Canada. In addition to conducting research, it offered workshops and seminars focusing on strategic planning, training, and technological justification. REMAT’s director was Dr. Hamid Noori, a professor of business at Wilfrid Laurier University. The center closed in 1994.

The Research Centre for Management of Advanced Technology/Operations (REMAT) fonds contains administrative records and reports, surveys, publications, and training programs pertaining to REMAT, which was in operation from 1985 until 1994.

Series 1 - contains surveys, databases, questionnaires, and reports produced by REMAT regarding the implementation of new technologies and technology fitness.

Series 2 contains conference, workshop, symposium, and program notes and videos pertaining to technological changes. Topics include environmental waste, technology transfer, technology fitness, and strategies for success.

Series 3 contains, proposals, contracts, reports, technology forums, and productivity models pertaining to business networks.

Series 4 contains REMAT publications, including an annotated bibliography and electronic database about “Technology Literature,” “The Conceptual Framework: Measuring the Effectiveness of New Technology,” “Technology Implementation: An Analysis of Canadian Manufacturers,” “Managing Technology: Social Science Perspectives,” “Quality First: Key to Future Success 1988, Kitchener: Quality & Productivity Conference Transcripts,” among others.

Series 5 contains Administrative Records relating to REMAT. The records include internal and external correspondence, advisory council minutes, membership lists and directories, grant information, details about related associations and centres, conference and workshop records, photographs, and the centre’s goals and objectives.
