Administrative history
Laurier Students' Public Interest Research Group (LSPIRG) is an incorporated not-for-profit organization that helps to develop advocacy tools and avenues for action. LSPIRG was formed at Wilfrid Laurier University Waterloo campus in 2005, and opened an office at Laurier Brantford in 2016. It is student funded and student-oriented.
LSPIRG funds independent and community oriented research projects through CCRLA (The Centre for Community Research Learning and Action), provides Board and Steering Committee experience, offers volunteer opportunities, and works with students and community members to raise awareness on a range of social and environmental justice issues. LSPIRG is funded through membership dues, paid automatically by students via the student levy and paid voluntarily by all other community members.
