Administrative history

The Interdisciplinary Research Committee, formerly known as Interdisciplinary Research Seminar, was established in 1975 to stimulate and foster interdisciplinary academic discussion. Supported by the Research Office at Wilfrid Laurier University, this Committee scheduled seminars or conferences which focused on a topical theme of interest and importance to different academic disciplines such as anthropology, economics, geography, history, political science,psychology, sociology, and social work. The Committee disbanded in 1995 .

The fonds contains the records of the Interdisciplinary Research Committee. Includes minutes, correspondence, publications, reports, and audio recordings of seminars.

The records of the IRC were deposited in the Archives by Dr. Barry Gough on November 21, 1989. These records were accumulated during the Chairs of Dr. Barry Gough and Dr. Nicolas Nyiri. Accruals were added in 1994 and 1998.
