The fonds contains records created and accumulated by Kenneth Hewitt throughout his career. Includes publications, reports, correspondence, papers, maps, surveys, notes, inventories, newspaper clippings, photographs and other material.

Several series contain records of Ken Hewitt's involvement in the Snow and Ice Hydrology Project (SIHP), a joing Pakistan-Canada venture. Established in 1981, the project began its first of five summer field sessions in 1985. The project was jointly funded by Pakistan's Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) and Canada's International Development Research Centre. In Canada, the project was coordinated by the Cold Regions Research Centre of Wilfrid Laurier University.
